First season with no experience: how to land a resort job
Junior candidate guide: which roles open the door, how to build your Nevajobs profile and what to show in the intro video without a mountain CV.
You don’t need three Alps seasons to get in. Many resorts and hotels want reliable people with basic languages and real availability. Incomplete profiles fail more often than ‘no snow years’.
Roles that do hire juniors
- Housekeeping, F&B and kitchen help: high volume and on-the-job training.
- Base rental shop: if you learn fast and handle Saturday shifts.
- Front desk only with solid spoken language (B1+ for the destination).
- Instructors: almost always need certification — not the typical junior shortcut.
What to put if you have no prior season
- Hospitality, retail or events: shifts, tough customers, high pace.
- Exact availability (e.g. 1 Dec–15 Apr) and whether you accept staff house.
- Honest language levels — don’t invent C1 if you barely get by.
- Licence, car or night-shift availability when relevant.
Intro video without ‘resort experience’
In 30–45s say: who you are, target role, dates, one concrete pressure example (restaurant, retail, events) and why the mountains. Speak calmly. Junior employers watch attitude and clarity, not slalom form.
